RMIT Fine Art - Honours

My honours research and practice considers how nature can be associated with particular locations and can evoke memories and a feeling of place. My work specifically focuses on flora associated with and connected to, my sense of place in Wangaratta and North Melbourne. My research work enquires into the function of a souvenir and how acquired pieces of nature can be transformed into jewellery and objects, serving as permanent, portable reminders of time and memories of place. This investigation analyses contemporary and traditional materials and techniques in forming a body of work, which explores her interpretation through abstraction of flora. My work examines the delicacy, fragility and transience of nature, investigating elements of form, transparency, colour, detail and texture found in nature and within my drawings.
